Ventana’s 2009 Riesling is a fruit driven wine displaying a floral bouquet of orange blossoms and roses. The palate explodes with apricot and peaches and a touch of orange peel. The finish is quite long, and the style is considered off-dry. The Residual sugar is offset by sufficient acidity to make an exquisitely balanced wine.
The majority of the Riesling grapes planted in the Ventana Vineyard are 35 years old with the remainder at 20 years. The vineyard has received gold medal on wines made from its Riesling grapes for 32 consecutive years!
After gentle pressing, Reggie settles the juice for 36-48 hours. Next step is to rack into tanks where we ferment cool. Fermentation lasted 8 weeks for optimum fresh flavors, keeping just enough sugar to show off the fruit.
Riesling is a terrific sipping wine and a wine that pairs well with spicy complex Asian dishes as well as creamy cheeses and fruit.
