Le Mistral Accolades

2006 Le Mistral

Wine Spectator – 92 points
Intense and full-blown, with spicy, beefy wild berry, red beet root, dried currant and a medley of dried herbs, gaining complexity and nuance. Ends with a dash of pepper and spice. Syrah, Grenache and Alicante Bouschet. Drink now through 2015. 4,000 cases made. –JL , March 31, 2009 Issue

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate - 89 points
“…a dark ruby color, not the breathtaking expansiveness and joy of the 2005, but of course it’s a year less evolved. It is well-made, medium to full-bodied, with peppery, earthy notes intermixed with some kirsch and blackberry. Drink it over the next 6-7 years.”

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar - 89 points
"Bright red-ruby. Blackberry, black cherry and pepper on the cool but ripe nose. Supple and sweet but firm, with lively, fruit-driven flavors of dark berries, licorice and black pepper. Finished with broad tannins, lingering sweet fruit and hints of brushy herbs and spices. No shortage of complexity here."

2005 Le Mistral

Wine Spectator - 88 points
"Firm, tight and intense, with mineral and wild berry flavors that are in need of time in the bottle. While the tannins are tight, the flavors are complex. Syrah, Grenache, Carignane, Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouschet. Drink now through 2011."

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate – 90 points
“…A blend of 59% Syrah and 23% Syrah, and the rest Carignan, Petit Syrah and Alicante, it is a beauty. A delicious bistro and brasserie wine with loads of peppery black cherry and black currant fruit, the wine is expressive, soulful, and just delicious. Drink it over the next 4-5 years."

2004 LE MISTRAL

Wine Spectator - 88 points
"Elegant and complex, with pretty aromas of plum, coffee, spice and tobacco. Soft black cherry and coffee flavors take on tannins and complexity on the finish. Syrah, Grenache, Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouschet. Drink now through 2010."

2003 Le Mistral

Wine Spectator - 88 points
"A ripe, rich style, with a light syrupy texture and a mix of cassis, ripe berry, blackberry and hints of cola, pepper and spice, yet for all its opulence, it offers a measure of restraint and austerity. Syrah, Grenache, Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouschet. Drink now through 2010."

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate – 90-92 points
“I thought this was a fine example of the Rhône blend, and the fact that it is largely aged in neutral wood with only a small amount of new oak used has allowed the fruit to come forward. A big, peppery nose of raspberries, plums, smoke and damp earth is followed by a dense, rich, medium to full-bodied wine with loads of fruit, a forward style, but good, refreshing acidity…”

2002 LE MISTRAL

Wine Spectator - 91 points
"Eleganly styled, with rich, creamy vanilla, blackberry, blueberry and wild berry fruit flavors that are pure and complex, turning sikly in texture and finishing with a long fruity aftertaste. Syrah, Greanche, Carignane, Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouchet. Drink now through 2009."
