The Ventana is a 400+ acre vineyard in the heart of the Arroyo Seco American Viticultural Area, Monterey County California. The soil is primarily a calcareous composition of alluvial deposit with rock and gravel that support excellent drainage.
Tempranillo (Temp-rha-NEE-yoh) the great red grape of Spain, creates a wine that drinks like an alluring “danza” or dance. Over twenty years or so have been spent in Spain working with growers and winemakers learning about their techniques. After all that time 2005 is our first release. Tempranillo soars to marvelous and elegant heights grown in our cool climate, rocky soil in the Arroyo Seco AVA and tended to with sublime wine in mind.
